What is the EWC code for dry mixed recycling?

The EWC code for dry mixed recycling is one of two, and the receiving site's permit decides which. A bin of mixed packaging, which is what most dry mixed recycling is (card, bottles, tubs, cans), fits 15 01 06, "mixed packaging". The municipal chapter's sub-chapter 20 01 is for separately collected fractions "except 15 01", which points packaging back to chapter 15. In practice many collectors code a mixed recycling sack under chapter 20 as municipal waste. Both entries are non-hazardous and both go on an ordinary waste transfer note. What matters on the note is that the code matches the one on the site's permit, so ask your collector which it uses.
