A SIC code is the Standard Industrial Classification number, five digits, that describes a business's activity; 56101 is a licensed restaurant, for example. Companies House records one for every company, and a waste transfer note must carry the waste producer's SIC code so the regulator can tell what kind of premises the waste came from.
