How do I dispose of soil?

You dispose of soil as inert waste: a skip, a grab lorry or a wait and load collection, charged by weight because soil is heavy, roughly a tonne per cubic metre. Clean soil and stones are List of Waste code 17 05 04 and pay the lower landfill tax rate, so a load kept free of rubbish, timber and plasterboard costs far less than a mixed one. Soil from a contaminated site, a petrol station or an industrial plot may be hazardous and needs testing first. A household recycling centre will take a few bags from a resident but not a trade load. Keep it in rubble sacks or a pile the crew can reach.
