What not to recycle?
Do not recycle anything wet, dirty, soft or made of glass: food and food-soiled packaging, half-full bottles and cans, coffee cups (they are plastic-lined), plastic film, carrier bags and bubble wrap, polystyrene, crisp packets and sweet wrappers, tissues and paper towels, nappies, textiles, cables and small electricals, batteries, and glass bottles or jars. One greasy pizza box or a leaking milk carton can get a whole load rejected at the sorting plant and sent to general waste, so when in doubt, general waste is the safer bin. Glass goes in a bin of its own; batteries and electricals go to a specialist collection, never in either bin.
