What we did for a shopfitter

A flagship fit-out where a skip could not go

A shopfitting contractor fitting out a flagship store in the West End could not take a skip. Kerbside restrictions in the Congestion Charge zone and an active retail frontage ruled it out.
We ran Wait and Load cage collections for the length of the job, about 50 of them across 14 months, each booked as the site needed it and often on the same day. They carried mixed fit-out waste, shop-fit furniture and packaging, with plasterboard kept separate. Every load left with a Waste Transfer Note.
The same contractor used the service on two further fit-outs for the same client, one in west London and one in east London. A second fit-out firm used it during three shop builds for one food-to-go brand.

Common questions

Questions shopfitters ask

Can you collect where a skip cannot go?
Yes. The cage comes to the frontage or loading area at the time you book, your crew loads it and it leaves. There is no skip permit to arrange and nothing stays out overnight.
How much notice do you need?
Book by noon for same-day, otherwise it goes next day. A new account pays before dispatch, so the first collection starts within 24 to 48 hours of cleared payment.
Do you take old shopfittings and display units?
Yes. Old fittings and broken furniture go in the cage with the rest of the load.
What do we do with plasterboard?
Keep it in its own pile in the cage. We load it last and charge it separately, as shown on the Wait and Load page. We do not take it mixed through the general waste.
Do you take glass?
Not in a general load. Tell us when you book and we quote it as its own load.
Can you cover several shops at once?
Yes. Book each site as its own collection, with the address and load size for each. A held account rate can cover them all.
