Who will take a sofa without a fire label?

A licensed waste carrier or your council's bulky-waste service will take a sofa without a fire label; a charity will not. The label shows the sofa meets the furniture fire safety regulations, and without it a charity shop cannot legally resell it, so reuse is off the table. Without the label the sofa is treated as waste upholstered seating, which in England must be incinerated under the POPs rules rather than landfilled or stripped for recycling. The council route means a booking, a fee and a wait; a bulky collection takes it when you want, with the paperwork. Do not leave it on the street: a dumped sofa is fly-tipping, and the fixed penalty can reach £1,000.
