What are the new bin rules for 2026?
The new bin rules for 2026 are Simpler Recycling, for businesses in England, and 2026 is the year between its two deadlines. Workplaces with 10 or more full-time-equivalent staff have had to separate dry recyclables, food waste and general waste since 31 March 2025. Workplaces with fewer than 10 have until 31 March 2027, so a small café, salon or office should sort its bins during 2026. Dry recyclables are plastic, metal, glass, paper and card; your collector may ask for paper and card in a separate container. Household bin changes are a council matter and vary by borough. A business that still has one bin for everything is the one the rules are aimed at.
