How do I get rid of unwanted pallets?

You get rid of unwanted pallets by sorting them first. Sound standard or Euro pallets are wanted by pallet recyclers and some will collect a stack free, so ask before you pay. Broken, odd-sized, painted or wet pallets are waste wood, and that needs a licensed waste carrier: a pallet collection or a wait and load visit, with a waste transfer note, after which the wood is chipped for board or burned for energy. Pallets cannot go in a wheelie bin, a household recycling centre will not take them from a business, and a stack left on the pavement is fly-tipping. Their List of Waste code is 15 01 03, wooden packaging.
